Take me anywhere – DC edition

The trip to our nation’s capital on Halloween weekend sure was an adventure.

The day before our trip, my travel companion and I had our flights canceled, which had them flying to Chicago and me to Dallas.

Eventually, we both could get our flights figured out, but it had us missing the Washington Capitals hockey game, which was the point of our whole trip.

The hockey gods must’ve been watching over us because we got in our seats at the game just as the puck dropped.

We stayed at the Moxy, which is Marriott’s attempt at a “trendy boutique hotel boasts a minimalist design with stylish rooms and modern amenities.”

For two people, it is not conducive. For one person, it’s perfect.

We also rented a car to get around. I went through the app Turo, which allows you to rent someone else’s personal vehicle. It’s like an Airbnb for car rentals.

If your flight gets changed, which mine did, it could be a different experience than what I had.

Jamar was super accommodating and worked with me on the pickup time.

But I just want to warn you that it could be difficult if things change, so just a heads up.

We didn’t eat out on all our trip, but we were told that we must try BLT Steak for the best bacon in the world.

We also go to see some dear friends whose son plays hockey, so we drove to Ocean City, and it was such great weather. Nothing beats watching hockey right on the beach.

After we got back from Pennsylvania, we walked around the mall, which is absolutely stunning at night.

Another thing we wanted to do on this trip to go see Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater.

The drive to Pennsylvania is magical and stunning. I cannot believe how gorgeous it is.

Fallingwater was perfect. It was a chilly, rainy day, but nothing beats getting to see architectural greatness in person.

I always recommend getting away on a weekend for a quick out of town and one place you should see is D.C.!
