My cousin had a conference in Indy, and since I am a ball of fun, she invited me along for the ride.
As we departed Tulsa, we buckled in for a nine-hour road trip.
About six hours into the trip, we began getting hungry, so we stopped for a bite to eat in St. Louis.
Whenever I need food, I turn to Yelp because it has been such a big help and hasn’t let me down yet.
The place I found was called Terror Tacos and man, this place did not disappoint! It was unique, and the food was spectacular.

With our belly’s food of yummy goodness, we got back on the road.
I spent a week exploring Indy. I explored the city, and after two days, I was ready for another adventure.

I ate at several places, and some were better than others.
The best meals I had were at this place called Nada. It was so good, I ate here twice. The queso was so divine that you could bathe in it, and the margaritas were top-notch.

I also ate at the famous St. Elmo steakhouse, and I wasn’t blown away. I got seated right away since I was by myself. This place has history, so it’s worth checking out, but nothing to write home about. I ordered a Caprese salad, green beans, and an Oscar 8 oz. filet. My steak was warm, but I was not a fan of the brussels sprouts.

Another place I tried was Tony’s of Indianapolis, and boy, I was not a fan. I again ordered brussels sprouts and their salmon dish, which were not good. The salmon was too salty, and some of my bites were rancid-like. If you can, find somewhere else to eat.

On our last night, we ate at the Eagles Nest, which is on the top floor of the Hyatt Regency. This revolving rooftop eatery is pretty fun and the food was good.

After about a week, we got back on the road and headed back to Tulsa.
As we got into Missouri, my cousin and I stopped at The Cahokia Mounds State Historic Site.
Located in southern Illinois, Cahokia was probably the largest North American city north of Mexico during its peak from A.D. 1050-1200 A.D. It has a lot of history, and it is worth checking out!

We got hungry, so we decided to stop again in St. Louis for food and found this cute place called Retreat Gastropub.
It was amazingggg! I had a mojito mocktail which tasted like the real thing. We also ordered the bruschetta, portobello mushroom sandwich, and the chicken sandwich with a side of garlic parmesan fries. Everything was so delicious.

Overall, the trip was great because I spent time with my cousin, which is always a plus. St. Louis’ food scene is fantastic, so it’s definitely worth the six-hour road trip to explore and eat your way through.
