Travel the world by eating in Tulsa

Travel the world right here in Tulsa by eating at several international restaurants.

Tulsa has a fantastic selection of international delights. If you ever want to travel, you do not have to look any further than right here in our backyard.

From pupusas to naan, our city has a front-row seat to international cuisine.

Sisserou’s
This downtown restaurant is Tulsa’s only authentic Caribbean restaurant inspired by Dominica’s colorful cuisine.

You will want to run, not walk, to this downtown treasure because they have the best jerk chicken wings.

Their wings are served with an avocado cream dipping sauce that is out of this world!

Location: 107 N. Boulder Ave.

Sin Fronteras

One of my favorite restaurants in Tulsa, and I love introducing this place to friends and family.

This Honduran restaurant serves up the best fried chicken in Tulsa. I also order six pupusas every time I go here, which is once a week.

Pupusas are thick griddle cakes or flatbreads that are stuffed with yummy goodness.

I typically order three stuffed with cheese and three stuffed with cheese and beans.

Location: 5125 S. Peoria Ave.

India Palace

India Palace has been a staple in my life ever since I attended Tulsa Community College in 2005. This restaurant was always super delicious and was also a great place to take a study break!

Tucked away in the corner near 71st and Lewis, the friendly staff and outstanding Indian cuisine were always a neat treat – especially on holidays or going out with girlfriends or your partner in crime.

The buffet-style restaurant always has something for everyone, and you can never go wrong with naan.

Location: 6963 S. Lewis Ave.

Kilkenny’s

If you’re ever in the mood for Irish food, Kilkenny’s is the best in town.

I always order the Cabernet Buffalo Burger. This juicy burger is divine, and I am never disappointed when I eat it. I never feel gross or heavy after eating it, and as someone who lives an active lifestyle, I never want to feel weighed down by the food.

Their brunch is always tasty. If you order its Irish French Toast, a traditional French toast made with its famous Irish Brown Bread, you won’t leave disappointed.

Calaca Fresh Mex

If you want the best Mexican food in Tulsa, head to south Tulsa for this authentic and fantastic place.

If you want tacos, Calaca is the best place.

We happened to be driving and were craving Mexican food. Thanks to Yelp, we found Calaca, and we were so happy we did.

I ordered the traditional meats for tacos (chicken and beef), but the owner said I should try tongue. I am always game to try something new, so I ordered two tongue tacos, and oh my goodness. Talk about the most fantastic taco ever!

While there, also order their queso and guacamole – you will not be disappointed.

French Hen

A quiet, quaint, and casual-fine experience awaits you at the French Hen.

With so many items on the menu, this French restaurant is known for its seafood and duck.

The French Hen has been a staple amongst Tulsa diners for almost 40 years.

Desserts like chocolate or berry crème brûlée or the banana walnut bread pudding are sure to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Taste of Mandarin

My partner introduced me to his lovely place, and I am so happy they did!

Talk about the best. Dumplings. Ever.

I’m typically not a fan of Asian cuisine, but this place is incredible. I cannot get over how amazing the dumplings were.

We ordered two rounds of pork dumplings, and my taste buds have been thanking me ever since I tried these bad boys a few months ago.

Also, the duck is unbelievable! When you go, order it!

Located near 61st and Sheridan, this hole-in-the-wall restaurant will not disappoint!

Location: 6125 S. Sheridan

I hope you get to go out and broaden your horizons with these spectacular treats found right here in Tulsa!

Bon appétit!
